Lil’ Death - WIP Part 2

Now the rope is done, I also add his ears, and starting on the bottom curving part…

To make the curves even, I measure the circumference and do my math, mark the spaces, and sculpt the little patels….

Finalize the curves…

Make template for the little cross on his chest…

There we have LIL’ DEATH master completed!

Prepare to make first part of silicon mold from the master, BTW that metal pipe is for air vent…

Close up look, I love the colorful wall of legos hehe….

Pour the silicon into it…

Part one silicon mold complete!

Preparing for part 2 mold, applying vaseline on surface…

All set for part 2 mold!

Pouring silicon again…

TA DAAAAA~ 2 part mold complete! ready to clone my army, i’ll be working like nutz in next few weeks, and we shall see the final product very soon :-)

Lil’ Death - WIP Part 1

LIL’ DEATH is gonna be my next resin toy, due out in march, a friendly skull faced witch, appeared on Hollow Threat poster! Here’s a little walk through of my process of making this toy…enjoy! ;-)

Did a real size sketch of Lil’ Death, i’ve spiked side view and back view drawings, it’s all in my head in 3D hehe, and I make a base shape with foil paper, that saved heaps of super sculpey….

Super sculpey outside the foil base & prepare the face template…

Once the face area is traced, i make the face pop out a little, also rounded…

Trace and refine some face detail using the template…

follow the lines, start sculpting the face…

Skull mouth is done!

Create eyes and nose template from previous template…

Align and drop down the eyes, nose lines…

Now he can see…

And then mouth, freehand sketch the nose and mouth details, they are too small to build a template…

I use a lino cutter to sculpt the mouth, this is probably the trickiest and most time consuming stage for me…

Nose added after mouth shaped properly, and his face is done!

Start adding clay around the face, make it taller than the face, so it looks like hes inside the rope…

1. Deer Plush by Emily Beaulieu (aka Follow The White Rabbit)

these deer are so cute, had my eyes on them for long time, finally get an excuse to buy it hahaha, perfect gift for V Day! thanks Emily for doing the custom plush, makes it extra special! :D

p.s. canada got some super cute stamps!!! i dont collect stamps, but i’m keeping these! hehe…

2. Gloomy Muzzle Harness edition

seen lots gloomy toys, but this is by far my favorite!! totally sick design…..

and the mini version of it, i think it’s a zipper thing, thanks Tony from Popup for this extra gift!! & PodgyPanda for traveling miles and miles to pick this up for me…. sad that there’s no vinyl toy store in Auckland anymore :-(

3. Bunny Bunny by Amy Lam

got this for my V Day present! hand made super cute fimo bunny = priceless! however its not baked LOL, waiting for a sunny day to fix this :-P

4. Elmo Key Cap

another V Day gift! yay…. i’ve been digging elmo and other sesame street stuff lately! still want to get myself a elmo tee hehe…. thanks JB! :-)

printed a toddle bodysuit for my sister’s upcoming baby! its an old artwork, a pre hollow threat piece… where the whole thing starting from!

Maori Warrior in orange! also a gift for my sister, she wanted a MW since it came out, and its a perfect opportunity to test out some new colors on this one :P was hoping to get a crazy pink MW, but the pink paint i used dont stick so well on resin, sand it off and repaint in orange!! love how it turn out, maybe we’ll see some new colorway soon?! :-)

p.s. i’m sculpting a new Hollow Threat figure now! i’ll post a WIP very very soon…..

this and that…. pt.4

just finished off two comic related project, first a short Hollow Threat comic for upcoming compilation “COMIX”, due out in april! (little teaser below)

2nd, a tribute artwork for Bill Mantlo, an comic book writer at Marvels Comics, most known for his ROM Spaceknight comic, I did a “cover cover-art” for this charity book/event, coming in 2nd quarter, I’ll have more details for these 2 project later…

right now I’m writing for Digital Arts magazine, yup that’s right, asked to write a tutorial with my perfect ENGRISH! don’t think I’ve wrote so such texts in years?! this is actually quite fun, I’ll demonstrate how I create the Hollow Threat poster……. thats it, back to writing! :-P

Hello 2010! I had a great chilling holiday! so much great food & sightseeing around auckland! feeling fresh again! yay :D

Kicking off the year with ‘Kiwi Diary 2010′! a very unique “diary”, it’s kinda like a magazine yet there are so many blank spaces & dates on them, mixed with photography, illustration, poetry….etc! you can get this from major design stores around NZ or direct from the kiwai diary! :-)

me & my mate PEAP also on the diary! i’m on september! woohoo~
